Why do some SMC and BMC products exhibit color mottling?
Color mottling in SMC/BMC products stems primarily from five core issues: poor pigment dispersion, phase separation, uneven flow/temperature distribution, non-uniform distribution of fibers/fillers, and the migration of low-shrinkage additives. This phenomenon is particularly prone to occurring in light-colored or vivid shades (such as fruit green, light red, and light gray).
Mottling is the cumulative result of multiple interacting factors involving materials, processing parameters, and equipment. To address this, priority should be given to troubleshooting four key areas: color paste quality, LPA phase separation, mold temperature uniformity, and the thickening/maturation process. By combining this diagnostic approach with process optimization, color uniformity can be significantly improved.
Why do SMC and BMC materials tend to "flow" or sag during the summer?
The high temperatures and high humidity characteristic of summer directly disrupt the thickening system, the viscosity of the material sheet, and the equilibrium of the curing reaction. This is a common industry-wide issue; both BMC bulk molding compounds and SMC sheet molding compounds become significantly more susceptible to sagging, excessive flash during compression molding, drooping at edges and corners, and material leakage during mold closure.
By implementing appropriate measures—specifically reinforcing the thickening system for summer conditions, storing materials at low temperatures, and shortening the maturation period—issues related to material flow, overflow, and sagging can be completely resolved.

Due to high temperatures in summer,please add an appropriate amount of inhibitor during use to ensure the storage stability of BMC.

Transportation shall comply with the provisions of Chapter V of the Regulations on the Safety Administration of Hazardous Chemicals issued by the State Council.

Before use,the resin should be stored in its original packaging (avoid opening and damage to the drum)in a dry room below 25°C.

Increased temperature and light exposure will significantly reduce shelf life.Avoid direct sunlight and keep away from heat sources during storage.
