Crystal Clear Craft Resin for Handicrafts

Crystal Clear Craft Resin for Handicrafts

Craft-grade crystal resin is a thermosetting resin—primarily unsaturated polyester resin, with epoxy resin used to a lesser extent—specifically designed for both artisanal creation and mass production of handicrafts. At room temperature, it exists as a colorless, transparent (or colorable) viscous liquid; it requires the addition of initiators and accelerators to undergo the curing reaction. Once cured, it forms a material with a crystal-clear, lustrous texture that rivals natural crystal, while also offering excellent processability and stability.

FAQ

What is the difference between crystal resin and ordinary resin?
The core differences lie in transparency, resistance to yellowing, and toughness. Crystal resin boasts exceptional clarity—free of impurities or cloudiness—and contains UV-resistant additives that prevent it from yellowing easily; once cured, it exhibits excellent toughness and is resistant to brittleness and cracking. Ordinary resin, conversely, is typically semi-transparent or opaque; it is prone to yellowing, highly brittle, and offers poor fidelity in reproducing fine details. As such, it is better suited for simple shapes and designs, rather than for handicrafts where aesthetic appeal and durability are critical requirements.
What should I do if the finished product contains air bubbles? How can I prevent them?
Air bubbles are typically caused by stirring the mixture too vigorously, excessive ambient temperatures, or the improper addition of auxiliary materials. Prevention methods include: stirring slowly to minimize bubble formation; allowing the mixed resin to sit undisturbed for 5–10 minutes to allow bubbles to dissipate naturally; or preheating the mold with warm water (at approximately 40°C) before pouring the resin. When incorporating additives such as glitter or glow-in-the-dark powder, wait until the resin has thickened slightly before adding them to prevent both settling and bubble formation. If the finished product already contains a small number of bubbles, the piece can be sanded down and repaired by applying a fresh layer of resin.

Instructions for Use and Storage Conditions
添加药剂
Different production processes and formulations affect the color and transparency of the resin. Test small samples to confirm color and transparency before bulk use.
Low ambient temperature prolongs gel time. To maintain color, do not increase accelerator or curing agent dosage; speed up gelation by raising ambient or resin temperature.
远离明火
Transportation shall comply with Chapter V of the Regulations on the Safety Administration of Hazardous Chemicals of the State Council. Store below 25℃ in a cool, sealed place, away from fire and heat sources, to prevent moisture and monomer volatilization. Shelf life: 3 months below 25℃.
