This product is an unsaturated polyester resin specifically formulated for hand lay-up molding. It is pre-promoted and thixotropic—featuring a thixotropic index of 2.2—and is designed expressly for the hand lay-up process to precisely suit manual fabrication scenarios for FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) products. Its core characteristics include moderate viscosity, superior wetting properties, rapid air release, and controllable working time, thereby balancing ease of application with the structural stability of the finished product. Molding can be accomplished without the need for complex machinery, making it widely applicable in the production of various hand-laid FRP goods.

The resin's viscosity is optimized for manual application methods such as brushing, troweling, and laminating; its moderate flow properties ensure it neither runs excessively nor piles up. It wets and fully saturates reinforcing materials—such as fiberglass cloth and mat—rapidly and thoroughly. Furthermore, it effectively facilitates the expulsion of air bubbles, thereby preventing defects such as voids, delamination, and pinholes in the finished product, resulting in a dense internal structure and a smooth, glossy surface finish upon molding. Additionally, the curing process is gradual and exhibits low exothermic heat generation, minimizing the risk of issues such as cracking or warping. Once cured, the material demonstrates excellent mechanical strength, toughness, and resistance to weathering and corrosion, enabling it to withstand prolonged exposure to outdoor environments and general chemical media.

This product offers a high tolerance for operational error, making it suitable for use by both novices and experienced technicians without the need for specialized automated equipment.

Boat Polyester Resin Core Performance Advantages

FAQ

What type of resin is 105?
105 is a general-purpose orthophthalic unsaturated polyester resin, specifically formulated for hand lay-up processes. Characterized by medium viscosity, excellent wetting properties, a long working time, and high cost-effectiveness, it is a best-selling, go-to resin for standard FRP hand lay-up applications.
What are its key fundamental parameters?
It features moderate viscosity—preventing sagging during hand lay-up—and is easy to brush on. Its generous gel time makes it ideal for the manual lamination of large-scale parts. It exhibits low curing shrinkage, ensuring that finished products are resistant to deformation and discoloration (whitening). Furthermore, it offers stable mechanical strength, with comprehensive mechanical properties that fully satisfy the requirements of standard FRP products.

Instructions for Use and Storage Conditions
1.1.png
Users should select the appropriate resin type based on specific environmental conditions and application process requirements.
图标.png
PLM-105S/M/W is a thixotropic resin. The thixotropic agent may settle over time. Before use, stir gently to re-disperse it uniformly.
3.1.png
The product should be stored in a cool place below 25°C, away from open flames and heat sources. Keep the container tightly sealed to prevent moisture ingress and monomer evaporation. The shelf life is 3 months when stored below 25°C.
